Research Project 4080

My culminating project this for this term's placement was an additional piece to the project I was assigned for this placement. For this term, I was placed in administrative setting. I was asked to complete office tasks in relation to the Early Childhood Studies program at GH. The project was called Field Placement Partner Excel Sheet updating. The project was divided into 4 tasks.

 

  • Task 1: look up each site, confirm address, contact available, phone number, email and web addresses.

  • Task 2: To confirm if site is for profit or non-profit

  • Task 3: To find out if site is covered under private insurance or WSIB

  • Task 4: Create a organized sheet in which create 5 subheadings which then categorize each placement by it's type; hospital setting, school boards, child care centres, therapeutic setting and specialty. Alphabetize each setting. 

Email/phone etiquette were provided by the field placement coordinator in order to assist in the project.

My research project then was a additional piece to this project I was assigned. It was to support the learning that had come from this project. Some areas I focused on when completing the research project were profit vs. non-profit organizations, private vs. WSIB insurance, professional skills I enhanced through the project and outcomes of actions. Through this project I learned a lot about for profit and for non-profit organizations. I learned about where these organizations stand in the EC world as for profit centre's do not qualify for any government grants or supports for the Early Childhood Educators. This lead me to further learn about where the fundings come from and in which areas of the organizations do these fundings get used in. It was nice to find out that when a centre has extra fundings they are able to reach out underprivileged families that are not able to afford childcare. My understanding about private vs. WSIB insurance coverage also enhanced as I did external research to fully understand WSIB coverage. Through this project, I was able to enhance professional skills such as; verbal and written communication skills, management skills, time management skills. I was able to grow both personally and professionally. Lastly, my reteach project was based on the outcomes of actions. I was able to hand in complete/updated file of all the field placement partners that GH uses. This project is going to be used to reach out to sites to connect GH ECS students to them. Therefore it was an important project that came to a successful end.
